What's New
As the practical arm of the Uniting Church, UnitingCare NSW.ACT wants to help the community to lead a greener way of life.
Since forming in 1977 The Uniting Church has had a progressive position on the environment. In a Statement to the Nation in 1977, the Inaugural Assembly of the Uniting Church in Australia (the Assembly being the church’s national body), said:
We are concerned with the basic human rights of future generations and will urge the wise use of energy, the protection of the environment and the replenishment of the earth’s resources for their use and enjoyment.
UnitingCare NSW.ACT is committed to making a difference to climate change. We want to be part of the solution rather than the problem and are urging people to consider how they can contribute to this by reducing their environmental impact by making small changes.
Earth Hour l 26 March
Staff, clients and friends of UnitingCare NSW.ACT switched off their lights along with participants from 133 countries for an hour at 8.30pm on Saturday 26 March to combat climate change.
A successful annual event, UnitingCare NSW.ACT is urging the community to go beyond the hour and look at long-term initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint.
Check out some tips we'll post in coming weeks to get you started.
