UnitingCare, as part of the Uniting Church, believes its fundamental purpose is to care for others. You can’t do this properly without getting involved in the issues of politics.
Taxation, distribution of resources and budgets - they’re all how you distribute the wealth of the community. We try to influence governments to make sure this is as fair as possible.
UnitingCare is always pushing the boundaries about important political and social justice issues. Our voice is strongest when we work together with other organisations and with the support of the community. You can help us with our advocacy work in a number of ways:
- Join the UnitingCare Burnside Advocacy Network and help make children’s voices heard where it counts.
- Start a discussion topic on one of our social networking pages on an issue you feel strongly about
- Join a UnitingCare campaign mailing list
- Forward this website link to friends

UnitingCare supports Uniting Church push for Government to move on Refugee Policy
UnitingCare supports the call from the Uniting Church in NSW and ACT Synod for the Government to honour the United Nations (UN) Convention of Refugees and to continue processing refugees from Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. A recent shift in government policy has seen a suspension on processing any asylum seekers from these two countries despite the very real need for nationals to flee from persecution.
You can help
You can join in this campaign by writing to your local member calling for a shift in policy. Please find below links to a draft letter that you can send to your local member as well as a simple guide to finding your local member's contact details.
